Introduction to Chair Pads

Transform a seat with a Chair Pad

Chair pads or chair pad cushions (and alternately called a chair pillow) is a small cushion that is placed on the seat or perhaps on the back. Sometimes these cushions are also found on stools, benches and even lounge furniture.

The function of a chair pad is two-fold. One, it adds comfort to both soft and hard seats, for example office and stool types respectively. But it is also used as a decorative element to change the look of both the seat and the surrounding decor.

Types

There are many kinds of chair pads, and many ways of categorizing them. For example, one may wish to pick by the type of seat they will cover, such as rocking chair pads, dining chair cushions, and stool cushions. Yet another way to categorize them is by their physical characteristics, such as style, material or construction. The round ones are noted for their round shape; the Sunbrella types are noted for their advanced, outdoor material; the braided ones are noted for the way the raw material is braided into the final product.

Embellishments for a Chair Pad

Pads can be very simple, or made with more accoutrements that help increase its value or utility. Purely aesthetic elements such as beading, sequins and tassels are possible aesthetic adornments. The fabric is also sometimes distinguished by advanced materials that are either waterproof or resistant to fading by the sun because of time spent outdoors. The interior is usually foam but the quality can vary depending on the price.

Choosing

Take a look at our site to help you decide how to pick the kind you need. Or if you don't know what you need, maybe our site can help. There are a number of outdoor variants for people interested in decorating exterior, patio and pool furniture. There are also indoor types such as window seat cushions and hooked chair pads. Know the dimensions of the seat in question to help you pick out the right size, and know how much you are willing to spend to help restrict the possible choices of material and design.

Wicker chairs benefit from chair pads that soften the seating surface and reduce otherwise skin impressions after long periods of use.
Kitchen chair pads serve both a practical and a decorative purpose.
Padding on some chairs does not stop them from being used with additional chair cushioning.
